The 2020 election has officially been called for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, which means we can all get back to watching something besides Steve Kornacki hugging a giant map on MSNBC. Did you know that guy slept more than 15 hours on Saturday when he got home from being at work all week? Never has a nap been more deserved.
Anyway, like I said, we can return to watching the nonsense that soothes and distracts us. Number one on that list, for me at least, is The Masked Singer. Well, actually, it’s The Bachelorette, but that was last night.
Tonight, we can focus on Group A, who will be performing for the third time this season. This means Popcorn, Sun, and Snow Owls will take the stage. Both Giraffe and Dragon have been unmasked and are no longer on the show; week one, we found out that Busta Rhymes was Dragon, and week three, the Giraffe turned out to be Brian Austin Green. Those reveals from Group A join Mickey Rourke, Wendy Williams, Mark Sanchez, and Bob Sagat as the performers who’ve already left the show.
Group A is dwindling, and the remaining contestants have definitely piqued the panelists’ interest. So far, the theories for Sun include Demi Lovato, Carrie Underwood, Mandy Moore, Madonna, Kristen Bell, or Idina Menzel. But Popcorn, the only other solo singer left in the group (Snow Owls are a duo), has also made people very curious.

Cyndi Lauper
When my partner first watched this show, they immediately guessed that Popcorn is Lauper. Other fans seem to agree: This person definitely sounds like the “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” singer.

So far, Popcorn has performed “What About Us” by Pink and “Falling” by Harry Styles. The ’80s legend does love a slow, emotional song, and the songs the masked performer selected so far definitely fit that vibe.
Taylor Dayne
The singer-songwriter seems to be the number one guess among fans. In the clues package, we hear “snacks in the city,” and this could be a reference to the fact that Dayne was born and raised in Manhattan. The clues package mentions that she “built her career around love,” and Dayne has several hit songs that mention the word “love,” including “Tell It to My Heart,” “Love Will Lead You Back,” “Prove Your Love,” and “I’ll Always Love You.” As Good Housekeeping notes, the biggest possible clue is the reference to meatloaf—Meatloaf covered Dayne’s 1991 song “Original Sin.”
Paula Abdul
One clue in particular has fans thinking that this singer is Abdul; during the clues package, Popcorn says “straight up,” which is a popular song of Abdul’s. Fans also point to the song “Cold Hearted,” which features lyrics about a snake. There is a snake in the clues package.
Sofia Carson
Another popular guess is Sofía Daccarett Char, The Descendants actress known as Sofia Carson. There is a “mirror, mirror” clue in the package, which some fans think references Carson’s role as Evie, the daughter of the Evil Queen from Snow White.
