Miley Cyrus was the musical guest on last night’s “At Home” edition of Saturday Night Live, and she chose to go with a cover instead of one of her own songs. The 27-year-old covered Pink Floyd’s 1975 classic song “Wish You Were Here” from the album of the same name. Accompanying her in her fireside cover was guitarist and hit-maker Andrew Watt, who recently recovered from coronavirus and shared his story on social media.
In her rendition of the song, Cyrus sang in her own emotion-filled take on the song, Cyrus sat in the glow of the fire as she sang the following lyrics:
“Did they get you to trade/Your heroes for ghosts?/Hot ashes for trees?/Hot air for a cool breeze?/Cold comfort for change?/Did you exchange/A walk on part in the war/For a lead role in a cage?/How I wish, how I wish you were here/We’re just two lost souls/ Swimming in a fish bowl/Year after year/Running over the same old ground/And how we found/The same old fears/Wish you were here”
Cyrus posted a still from her performance with the caption “@nbcsnl at home…. performing ‘wish you were here’ ❤️”
During this pandemic, Cyrus has been hosting her Instagram Live show, Bright Minded, where her mission is to keep up her fans’ spirits.
“If you wanna be bright minded, there’s just one place to go,” Miley sings on her theme song. “When you’re stuck at home and the time is ticking slow, Monday through Friday live with Miley on my Instagram show! On my Instagram show!”
