After 33 years, we’re heading back to the fictional nation of Zamunda with Prince Ackeem (Eddie Murphy) and Semmi (Arsenio Hall). To celebrate the Coming 2 America sequel hitting virtual theaters—Amazon Video—this Friday, Uoma Beauty collaborated with the film to launch an exclusive makeup collection highlighting the beauty of real African countries and pioneering figures.
Launching today, the Uoma Beauty Black Magic Coming 2 America Collection is heavily focused on the eyes, inspired by the beauty brand’s beloved Black Magic eyeshadow palettes. “The collection, which has a particular focus on the eyes, draws from African royalty from all over the continent, from the Fulani tribe in Nigeria, Niger, and Chad to the Ndebele all the way to the ultra-modern and colorful Aso Ebi/Aso Oke culture,” the brand explains in a press release.
In this collection, Uoma Beauty debuts three different palettes: The Royal Heir-Tage Color Palette—a 10-pan palette with each shade named after queens of ancient Africa; plus two Coming 2 America Mini Color Palettes in “Good Morning Zamunda” and “Queen To Be”—both lines that nod the original Coming to America.
Palettes aside, the collection also debuts three pigmented lipsticks, an eyeliner, and a three-pan highlighter palette, all brought to life through Uoma Beauty’s gorgeous campaign. Featuring makeup looks by Sir John, styling by Zerina Akers, and shot by Trevor Stuurman, The Black Skinned Beauty portraits pay tribute to the queens of Africa and what they represent: courage, pride, heritage, opulence, and resilience.
The UOMA Beauty Black Magic Coming 2 America Collection is available today, March 4, on uomabeauty.com, and tomorrow, March 5 on ultabeauty.com nordstrom.com, walmart.com, and beautylish.com. Stream Coming 2 America on March 5 on Amazon Prime Video.
