Including a reformulated vitamin C serum and hotly anticipated candles.
As we leave behind the sunny, sweltering days of summer, there’s plenty to look forward to for fall, especially where beauty products are concerned. There are fragrances that stir up the imagination, mood-boosting body washes for our shower routines, and much more. These are the September 2021 beauty launches you need on your radar.
Paco Rabanne Phantom
Your fragrance wardrobe is about to get a whole lot cooler. Phantom, the new scent from Paco Rabanne, taps into technology to create a feel-good fragrance. Perfumers used a combination of AI and neuroscience to carefully select ingredients based on which ones had emotional benefits. The resulting scent brings together a blend of lavender, Italian lemon, vetiver and woody vanilla. Also, did we mention that it’s shaped like a robot?!
L’Occitane Youth Hand Cream Serum-in-Cream
Dropping temperatures means that you’ll be reaching for hand cream on the regular, but you don’t want anything too rich and decadent just yet. L’Occitane lends a helping hand with the Youth Hand Cream Serum-in-Cream. In addition to nourishing hands, nails and cuticles, it also protects them from visible signs of aging with the help of skin-brightening hibiscus flower acid, shea butter and immortelle essential oil cream.
Drunk Elephant C-Firma Fresh Day Serum
Drunk Elephant’s bestselling C-Firma Fresh just got a formula makeover. It still contains the original antioxidant complex made up of 15 percent l-ascorbic acid, 0.5 percent ferulic acid, and 1 percent vitamin E, but to boost its potency and keep it fresher for longer, the new formula separates the ascorbic acid in from the liquid serum in powder form, which you have to mix before use. The longer shelf life means you can continue to use it at least six months after mixing.
Miss Dior Eau de Parfum
“The intention was to inspire hope and joy,” says perfumer Francois Demachy over a Zoom call from Grasse, France. Demachy is calling from a field of roses (literally) to discuss the newest iteration of Miss Dior Eau de Parfum, a fresh floral scent whose goal is to provoke an emotional reawakening. “We’ve been shut in and confined to small places for so long,” he says. “With this perfume, we are going for a feeling of reopening and reconnecting with nature.” Demachy hopes that the new Miss Dior, with its bright and inevitably optimistic notes of Centifolia rose, iris and peony balanced out with musk, tonka bean, and sandalwood to ensure that the scent never becomes overpoweringly sweet, will make its wearer feel like, at long last, they are “able to breathe again.” —Souzan Michael Galway
REN Evercalm Redness Relief Serum
Part of Ren’s Evercalm range developed for sensitive or sensitized skin, the Redness Relief Serum was recently updated with a more efficacious, vegan formula, and eco-conscious packaging. Featuring white mushroom extract, the creamy, skin-soothing serum targets six signs of skin sensitivity: redness, tightness, itchiness, burning, discomfort, dryness and flakiness.
Ouai Candles
Celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin has been fielding requests for candles ever since hair and body care brand Ouai got into the fragrance game. Ask and you shall receive! Ouai just debuted two candles inspired by their signature scents, Melrose Place and North Bondi. Melrose Place has notes of champagne, pink peppercorn, berry, peony, rose, sandalwood and musk, while North Bondi features bergamot, apple blossom, Italian lemon, freesia and amber. Made using a coconut and soy blend, they’re poured into chic concrete vessels that you can reuse.
Weleda Aroma Essentials
A better shower routine for fall? Yes, please. Weleda has a new range of mood-enhancing shower gels and creamy body washes. Harnessing the aromatherapy benefits of essential oils like rose, lavender and bergamot, they nourish the skin and provide a complete sensorial experience in the shower. The line-up includes two body washes and a shower gel — Relax, Pamper and Energy.
