M.A.C Cosmetics has always had an eye for musicians—Rihanna, Selena Quintanilla, Mariah Carey, Aaliyah, to name a few. Now, you can add Teyana Taylor to the brand’s growing list.
The Teyana Taylor x M.A.C Cosmetics team-up was a match written in the stars since she 15 years old playing with M.A.C products to concoct her own personalized colors and finishes and drew upon these skills for her official partnership with M.A.C. It all started at the M.A.C Cosmetics store on 125th Street in Harlem, Taylor’s birthplace. “I used to walk down that block on 125th, and stop at the MAC store and just stare at the campaigns,” she told ELLE.com. Mesmerized at seeing M.A.C join forces with musicians over the years, Taylor “couldn’t wait for that to be me, for real.” And her time has finally come.
Taylor was inspired to work with the iconic brand because of its history of celebrating women of color through similar collaborations, including the brand’s previous collections with Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Mary J. Blige, and late singers Aaliyah and Selena Quintanilla-Pérez.
“I’ve been a fan of M.A.C. ever since I was 15 years old and started experimenting with makeup. It was the first brand that made me like makeup. I’m so grateful and excited to be sharing this beautiful collection I created with the M.A.C team but also hoping to inspire other young women that anything and everything is possible,” Taylor said in a statement.
For Ukonwa Ojo, global chief marketing officer and senior vice president of global marketing at M.A.C Cosmetics, Taylor’s eclectic, bold style is “unlike anyone else.”
“She’s fierce, bold and unapologetically herself, no matter what she’s wearing—all qualities we stand for at M.A.C—and are so excited to bring to life through this new collaboration,” she added.
No word on when the official collection will drop, but stay tuned for more details about M.A.C X Teyana Taylor collaboration.
