Rihanna made a splashy return to New York City earlier this week, alongside her boyfriend A$AP Rocky. Fuzzy pink bucket hat and slip dress aside, eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice one of Rihanna’s signature tattoos—a camouflage baby shark—was no longer on her ankle but instead covered with a brand new tattoo.

If you recall, Rihanna’s shark tattoo was actually done in 2016 and represents a special date Rih had with Drake, who took her to an aquarium in Toronto. According to E!, Rih’s tattoo was done by Bang Bang NYC. “Camo shark for my dear friend @badgalriri,” the tattoo artist wrote at the time.

No telling why or when Rih decided to cover up her shark tattoo, but one can guess that her new relationship to A$AP Rocky might have something to do with it. After all, Rih and Drake’s on-again-off-again romance has long fizzled out—though they can still playfully interact on Instagram Live—and Rih seems pretty happy with her new beau. While out in NYC this week, the couple was photographed kissing and cuddling on the street before hitting up a local bar.

Last month, Rocky gushed about his relationship with Rihanna, calling her “the love of my life.”

“So much better when you got the One. She amounts to probably, like, a million of the other ones. I think when you know, you know. She’s the One,” the rapper told the outlet. Will Rih and Rocky get matching tattoos next?
