The British royal family has come together on social media to celebrate the first birthday of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son Archie. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared their tribute to their nephew early on Instagram. The couple’s Kensington Palace social media team shared a photo of Kate Middleton and Prince William with Archie, Meghan, and Harry at Archie’s christening last year.
“Wishing Archie a very happy first birthday today! 🎈” their team captioned the post.
Prince Charles, Archie’s grandfather, shared his post on his Clarence House Instagram at the same time. “A very Happy Birthday to Archie, who turns one today,” his team wrote. “This photo of Archie and his grandfather was taken following his christening in July 2019.”
Their tributes come hours before a new video Harry took of Meghan reading to Archie was posted on Save the Children UK’s Instagram.
“Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex reads ‘Duck! Rabbit!’ for Archie’s birthday,” the organization captioned it. “‘Duck! Rabbit!’ with Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex (and Harry, the Duke of Sussex behind the camera), read to their son Archie for his 1st birthday. Happy Birthday, Archie. The Instagram posts are a nice show of peace between all the royals following Meghan and Harry’s decision to step back from their senior royal family roles earlier this spring. Even back in January when Meghan and Harry made their announcement, a source close to the royal family told ELLE that everyone wants to “give Harry and Meghan support so they can feel like they’re on the path they want to be on.”
