And just like that, Chloé has a new creative director. Today, December 7, Chloé’s chief executive officer Riccardo Bellini announced that Gabriela Hearst will be taking the reins as its new creative director, effective immediately.

The New York-based, Uruguayan designer’s new role as creative director comes on the heels of Natacha Ramsay-Levi’s departure, announced just four days ago. Hearst launched her eponymous label in 2015, beloved for its cult-favorite Nina pouch bag and sustainable, minimalist aesthetic. She will help push Chloé towards a socially and environmentally-conscious future and “be a positive force in further evolving and expanding our founder’s original vision of meaningful and powerful femininity,” Bellini says.

“I am grateful for an opportunity at such a beloved brand as @chloe,” Hearst wrote on Instagram Monday morning. “I am thankful to Natacha Ramsay-Levi and all the other extraordinary designers that have come before her and helped build on the purposeful vision of Gaby Aghion. I am excited for the opportunity to work under the leadership of Riccardo Bellini and support him in his commitment to create a business that is socially conscious and in balance with our environment. I am also humbled to be able to work with the Chloé team to help execute this beautiful vision in creative and accountable ways.”

Hearst will debut her first collection for the house in March 2021. Even though she’s taken on new responsibilities at Chloé, Hearst did not announce any plans to step down from her namesake label and will remain its creative director as well.
