The squad lives on. Camila Cabello shed insight into what being Taylor Swift’s friend is really like in a new interview with Bustle, published today. Cabello’s remarks paint a picture of how Swift behaves with her famous friends behind the scenes and show her dedication to her relationships.
“Taylor has always been so kind and supportive and also goes out of her way to give you artist advice,” Cabello said. “[She’s] really about making friendships and relationships the most important thing. She is so brave at watering those seeds of friendships and relationships. She always answers my texts and she’s so busy. I don’t even answer texts because I’m just worse at it. It takes intention to be like, ‘Let me write all my friends back.’”
Cabello isn’t the only star to open up about her friendship with Swift. Longtime friend Selena Gomez has also been vocal about how instrumental Swift has been in her life, even privately.
“There’s so much of my friendship with Taylor that people don’t know about because we don’t necessarily feel the need to post about everything we do,” Gomez told WSJ magazine in January 2020. “She has showed up for me in ways that I would have never expected. Flown in because I was hurt and was going through something. Stuff that was going on with my family. It’s been proven year after year and in every moment of my life that she is one of my best friends in the world. We don’t agree on everything, but we respect each other with everything.”
Gomez added that as she prepared to release her 2020 album Rare, which lyrically reflected on heartbreak, Swift saw how much Gomez had healed in the music. “I remember Taylor said when I played her some of the new songs, ‘I feel like I’m seeing who you were before this [the Justin Bieber heartbreak].’ That makes me happy. I like feeling like that girl again.”
