Beyoncé can’t stop, won’t stop making history. The superstar leads this year’s Grammy Award nominations with nine nods, reaching 88 total throughout her career. She now ties her husband Jay-Z as the most-nominated artist in Grammy history.

Her nominations are thanks to her acclaimed dance-inspired album Renaissance, which arrived in July to widespread fanfare. They include: Record of the Year, Song of the Year for “Break My Soul,” and Album of the Year. She also spanned genres with additional nominations: Best R&B Song (“Cuff It”), R&B Performance (“Virgo’s Groove”), Traditional R&B Performance (“Plastic Off the Sofa”), Best Dance/Electronic Recording (“Break My Soul”), and Best Dance/Electronic Album.

Kendrick Lamar follows Beyoncé in the nominations count with eight nods, and Adele and Brandi Carlile are tied next with seven each. Jay-Z earned five of his own for his contributions to Renaissance and DJ Khaled’s “God Did.

In other history-making news: Beyoncé is the first woman of color to be nominated for Album of the Year four times as a lead artist, per Billboard. In this year’s category, she’ll be up against artists like Adele, Lamar, Lizzo, Harry Styles, and Bad Bunny. She is also reportedly the first Black woman nominated in the Dance/Electronic Album category.

Beyoncé already made history at the 2021 ceremony when she won her 28th Grammy, breaking the record for most awards won by a singer. She said in an acceptance speech that night, “As an artist, I believe it’s my job and all of our jobs to reflect the times and it’s been such a difficult time, so I wanted to uplift and encourage all of the beautiful Black queens and kings who continue to inspire me and inspire the whole world.”

The 2023 Grammy Awards will take place on Sunday, Feb. 5. The broadcast will air on CBS and Paramount+ at 8 P.M. ET/5 P.M. PT.
