Plus, watch Avril Lavigne’s nostalgic performance.

Last night, the 2022 Junos brought together some of Canada’s best music talent. And while the event’s red carpet is typically a more understated affair compared to those happening stateside, you can still expect some stand out fashion moments (like host Simu Liu in awards season’s favourite colour, hot pink).

But perhaps the most memorable moment was when pop-punk queen Avril Lavigne performed a nostalgic medley of her early 2000s hits “Complicated,” “Girlfriend,” “I’m With You” and “Sk8r Boi,” as well as “Bite Me” from her newest album Love Sux.

For its first in-person show since 2019, the 51st annual Junos was held at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage on Sunday (May 15).

Montreal-born Charlotte Cardin was this year’s most decorated artist with four awards: Artist of the Year, Single of the Year for “Meaningless,” Pop Album of the Year for Phoenix and Prestigious Album of the Year.

Other winners included the Arkells (Group of the Year), Jessia (Breakthrough Artist of the Year) and Haviah Mighty (Best Album/EP of the Year). Thirteen-time winner Shawn Mendes — one of Canada’s most beloved exports — made a special appearance to accept the Juno International Achievement Award (he also won the TikTok Juno Fan Choice award).

Finally, Canadian singer, songwriter, actress, and record producer Deborah Cox became the first Black woman to join the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, and was inducted by Toronto Raptors alumni Chris Bosh.

Needless to say, it was a night to remember. Take a look for yourself in the gallery below, where we’ve rounded up all the looks from 2022 Junos red carpet.
