US Women Sprint For Silver in 4x100m Relay as Star-Studded Jamaica Wins Gold

The US women’s track team notched yet another medal in Tokyo on Friday night, grabbing silver in the women’s 4x100m relay while Jamaica raced to the second fastest time ever to claim gold. Great Britain won bronze.

Anchoring the US team was 200m bronze medalist Gabby Thomas, bronze medalist in the 200m alongside Javianne Oliver, Teahna Daniels, and Jenna Prandini. Jamaica fielded a star-studded team that was always going to be tough to catch, as it included the three 100m medalists — Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and Shericka Jackson — as well as Briana Williams on the first leg. Jamaica maintained a comfortable lead from start to finish, with the US making up ground throughout to secure a comfortable silver.
