Ahead of the public launch, the brand is prioritizing distribution to healthcare workers.
The first ever Glossier hand cream is launching next week the brand has announced, but not before 10,000 units of its newest product are donated to frontline workers battling the COVID-19 pandemic.
Announcing the new launch on Instagram, the brand said that it has spent the past month donating several of its cult products (including balms, mists and moisturizers) to healthcare workers. During these interactions, the brand said “one of the most requested items is hand cream”, which is understandable given that increased hand-washing has led to dryness and irritations for many people. In fact, many brands have reported a huge uptake in hand cream sales since the pandemic began.
Glossier also added that they’ve been working on their own hand cream “for nearly two years.” The hand cream will be available from next Thursday, April 23 to the public, however the brand launched an initiative to ship 10,000 units to healthcare workers across the US ahead of launch. The call-out proved to be so popular that the cap was reached within a matter of hours. The brand says it is now sorting through applications to send the product to verified healthcare professionals.
A photo of the product was shared in the post, showing it housed in the brand’s signature baby pink packaging. On the brand’s website, founder Emily Weiss described the product as having “a beautiful formula delivered in some pretty ingenious packaging.” She added, “In addition to its heightened usefulness, we hope it brings you a little joy and comfort at a time when we could all use some.”
If you want to get your, ahem, hands on the Glossier hand cream, we suggest you move quickly next week as we suspect it won’t be in stock for long.
